The spring sporting challenge between sea and mountains, every year in May. A legendary race for all levels.

Every year in May, Saint-Raphaël hosts the Corniche d'Or Triathlon. Participants take on three classic disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. It is organised by the Saint-Raphaël Triathlon club. The races come in two formats, XS in the morning and M in the afternoon, to suit a very wide range of athletes, from amateurs to the most seasoned.

What does the Corniche d'Or Triathlon involve?

What does the Corniche d'Or Triathlon involve?

The XS swim

It is a 400-metre swim in the calm blue waters of the bay of Agay, sheltered from the prevailing winds. The M swim covers 1,500 metres in the same place, over a longer distance. At this time of year, temperatures are very mild and the water ranges from 18° to 24°.

The XS bike ride

It is a 10-kilometre out-and-back route from Agay inland along the La Louve forest road. The M ride covers 40 kilometres, with 800 metres of elevation gain, made up of two large loops and an out-and-back from Agay, first towards Cap Roux, then inland, also along the La Louve forest road.

The XS run

It is a 3-kilometre course at Cap Esterel, starting from Agay. The M run is a 10-kilometre course around the Esterel massif, with a magnificent view of the Pic de l'Ours and Mont Vinaigre, again starting from Agay. The descent offers a superb panorama over the bay of Agay.

The Corniche d'Or Triathlon means 800 participants, some fifty volunteers, and big crowds cheering on the athletes.

The XS run

Over the years, the Corniche d'Or Triathlon has become the unmissable sporting event of Saint-Raphaël and the surrounding area.

The ideal place to stay

During this sporting event, one of the best places to stay is Best Western Plus La Marina. The 4-star hotel is ideally located on the Santa Lucia harbour in Saint-Raphaël, 300 metres from the beaches. The rooms and suites are welcoming and pleasant, with views of the marina, the pool or the town, and most have a terrace or a balcony. The air-conditioned Quai Raphaël restaurant, with its terrace facing the marina, serves refined cuisine with flavours from here and elsewhere. You can enjoy the outdoor pool with sun deck, the equipped fitness club, the sauna, billiards…

The ideal place to stay

The Santa Lucia harbour, 1.3 km from the centre of Saint-Raphaël, welcomes boats all year round or for a stopover, with 1,630 berths well sheltered from the prevailing winds. Easy to reach, the Santa Lucia harbour offers every boating and yachting service. It is also the ideal departure point for the most famous ports of call on the Côte d'Azur (Saint-Tropez, Cap d'Antibes, Cannes, etc.) as well as destinations such as Corsica and Sardinia.
